The Progeny Story
progeny [proj-uh-nee] 1. a descendant or offspring, as a child, plant, or animal. 2. such descendants or offspring collectively. 3. something that originates or results from something else; outcome; issue.

My husband, Jeremy, and I started Progeny after the birth of our daughter. It seemed that no matter where I was, I never had what I needed, when and where I needed it. I found this to be particularly aggravating at feeding times – which of course for newborns is every two hours. My husband spent half of his paternity leave trying to locate which room I’d left my breastfeeding log in; finding a pen; grabbing nipple pads and the nipple cream; tracking down a burp cloth—there were so many supplies for such a little girl! And since I never fed her in the same place, everything was strewn all over the house – after all, it was all I could do to get baby from room to room after my c-section.
When he went back to work and I was on my own, I struggled more than ever. Now I was carrying around baby, breastfeeding every two hours, on my own to answer phone calls (if I could find any of our phones) and the door. And then there were the hand sanitizer, pacifiers and aspirator that I tried to have on hand all the time. I didn’t have enough hands, and since I couldn’t very well change that – I thought “I need more pockets.”
It occurred to me that an apron would certainly serve the purpose. After doing some research, I found that none of the aprons on the market were what I was looking for. There were serious flaws with all of them! I found that standard kitchen aprons were really only designed to protect your clothes while cooking. The designs were basic, generally one size fits most which made them shapeless (far from flattering). The fabrics were boring and many were made of canvas or some sort of nylon. I didn’t come across any that would be comfortable enough to wear all day long, much less soft enough to have sweet baby rub her face against. More importantly, they weren’t designed to function the way I wanted them to—they did not have enough pockets to meet my needs.
I was looking for something that would be sassy and fun, yet practical and have great utility. I wanted something that I would feel attractive in and would not be embarrassed to be wearing when we had pop-in visitors stopping by to see the new baby. I was shocked that there was nothing like this on the market! So I decided to make my own, and that’s how My Mommy’s Pockets came to be.
Our products are first and foremost functional for new Moms – helping her keep track of everything she needs for breastfeeding, working from home or just getting through the day. We designed aprons in different styles and sizes knowing women will have different needs. And of course, they’re fashion forward and flattering so women would feel comfortable wearing their apron(s) around town on errands when they don’t want to lug around a diaper bag.
And now, women of all walks and professions have found that My Mommy's Pockets can help them get organized - teachers, nurses, beauticians, artists, cooks, etc. - after all, who hasn't needed more pockets?
Wee Pockets was a natural extension – little girls love to emulate their Mommy, not to mention it’s a great way for the little one’s to carry around their own stuff!
Our wish is that these products, inspired by our progeny, will be a welcome gift to you and yours.
Sincerely,
